The Trust Beads

The Trust Beads

“I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy. I desire to grant unimaginable graces to those souls who trust in My mercy.

(Diary entry 687)

“…I desire trust from My creatures. Encourage souls to place great trust in My fathomless mercy. Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy.”

(Diary entry 1059)

“Let souls who are striving for perfection particularly adore My mercy, because the abundance of graces which I grant them flow from My mercy. I desire that these souls distinguish themselves by boundless trust in My Mercy!”

(Diary entry 1578)

“… and in His name shall the Gentiles trust!”

(Matthew 12:21)

The above quotes from the Diary of Saint Faustina and from Holy Scripture are just a few confirmations of the Lord’s desire for more trust in the world. Early in 2006, a faithful priest friend of the Divine Mercy Centre received a message within his heart to develop, pray and promote the “Trust Beads”. They consist of 100 beads strung together with red and blue cords (representing the Blood and Water depicted in the Divine Mercy Image), completed with a Divine Mercy medal.

The “Trust Beads” are to be prayed for two major reasons:

  1. for an increase in trust for ourselves, since we never trust enough in the Lord of Mercy, weak and frail as we are.
  2. for the conversion of non-Christians to Christianity, that “we all may be one” in accepting God’s fathomless mercy.

In Diary entry #186, Jesus said: “… When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of some sinner, I will give him the grace of conversion.”

Every day at the Centre, we include the Trust Beads as part of our prayer life. Although it is not a necessary part of the Trust Beads, we begin the Trust Beads with a prayer written by the late Pope John Paul II. (We have included the prayer here for those who might like to use it as well)

God, merciful Father, in Your Son, Jesus Christ, You have revealed Your love and poured it out upon us in the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. We entrust to You today the destiny of the world and of every man and woman.

Bend down to us sinners, heal our weakness, conquer all evil and grant that all the peoples of the earth may experience Your mercy. In You, the Triune God, may they ever find the source of hope.

Eternal Father, for the sake of the sorrowful Passion and Resurrection of Your Son, have mercy on us and upon the whole world. Amen.

Begin with the “O Blood and Water” prayer on the Divine Mercy medal. This powerful prayer of conversion is found in Diary entry #187: O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You.”

On each of the 100 beads, pray “Jesus, I trust in You”, meditating on the Lord’s love and goodness towards us.

Optional closing prayer:
Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know You, a heart to seek You, wisdom to find You, conduct pleasing to You, courage to trust in You, faithful perseverance in waiting for You and a hope of finally embracing You. Amen.            (an adaptation of a prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas)
